Engineers carrying out a site assessment before specifying equipment

Our process

Five steps, in the same order every time.

It is a deliberately unremarkable process. Most of the problems we are asked to fix started with somebody skipping one of these stages.

Surveyed before quotedAnything beyond a very small job gets a site visit first.
Written specificationWhat is being installed, where, and why that equipment.
Tested and documentedTest results, labelling and as-installed records at handover.
Supported afterwardsScheduled servicing and technical support once it is running.
How we work

Five steps, in the same order every time.

A deliberately unremarkable process. Most of the problems we are asked to fix come from skipping one of these stages.
  1. ConsultationWe start by understanding the problem rather than quoting equipment.
  2. Site AssessmentNothing is specified until the building has been looked at properly.
  3. Solution DesignA specification you can read, understand and compare.
  4. InstallationCareful work, clean site, minimal disruption.
  5. Support & MaintenanceHandover, then an ongoing relationship rather than a closed job.
Why AK Secure Tech

The difference is in the decisions made before anything is installed.

Survey before specification

Nothing is quoted from a floor plan. Sight lines, lighting, construction and existing cabling all change what the right answer is.

Equipment chosen for conditions

A camera that performs in a lit reception is the wrong camera for an unlit yard. Specification follows the environment.

Installed to be maintained

Accessible device positions, contained cable routes and labelling at both ends. The work that makes year five cheap happens in week one.

Documented at handover

Test results, as-installed records and a demonstration for the people who will actually use the system.

Sized with headroom

Cabinets, switching and control equipment are specified so adding a door, a camera or a desk does not mean starting again.

Plain answers

Where there is a real choice between approaches we set out both with the cost difference. Where replacement beats repair, we say so.

Specifying work

Questions that come up during design.

If yours is not here, ask. A short conversation usually settles whether a site visit is the right next step.

Next step

Start with a conversation.

Tell us about the property and what you are trying to achieve. For anything beyond a very small job we will arrange a site visit, because specifying equipment without seeing the building rarely produces an accurate price.
